PONY'S TAKE GAME ONE 8-5 IN CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

In a 5 inning rain shortened game DAC came up on top to go one up in the best of three series. Some timely hits by Alex Haley, Ethan Geffen, Chris Yzaguirre and Jordan Mittenthal gave DAC a 5-1 lead but the strong hitting Bayside team came right back culminating with a HR to tie in the top of the 5th. It could've of been worse as some great defensive plays kept the runs from scoring with a great play at the plate after a great throw from Ethan Geffen to cutoff man Chris Yzaguirre to catcher James Wolfin who applied the diving tag. Left fielder Wedith Reyes also played heads up ball when a line drive single came to him and he quickly gunned it to 2nd for the force for an important out.

In the bottom 5th DAC scored 3 runs to go up 8-5 and in the top 6th with the rain and wind coming in the game was called giving Anthony Samela a complete game victory. Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday.

PONY'S ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES IN BAYSIDE ALLIANCE

The DAC PONY's continued their winning ways in the semi-finals and now are headed to the Championship Series. Alex Haley pitched a superb 6 innings giving up only one run followed in relief by the reliable Anthony Samela getting the last 3 outs with help by a fine backhand stab by Jordan Mittenthal to get the force at second for the final out. The game was on the line tied at 1 a piece until Wedith Reyes came through with a 2 out line drive single just by the outstretched glove of the first baseman to score 2 runs in the 5th inning. Those 2 runs were all they needed as again their fielding was perfect as they went on to win 4-1.
