After going behind 5-0, some would
have thought a Game 3 tiebreaker was inevitable but all season
long this team knew that their hitting would eventually come
around and that's exactly what happened. Key hits and good
baserunning by Alex Haley, Chris Yzaguirre, Brian Scileppi,
Wedith Reyes, Francisco Chavez, Ethan Geffen, Jordan Mittenthal,
Alex Kaston, Jesse Faller, Logan Miller and our iron man behind
the plate James Wolfin all contributed to make this a game
again. Brian Scileppi pitching 4 solid innings left with a
5-5 tie handing the pitching duties over to the reliable Jordan
Mittenthal known for his control and finding the corners of
the plate. His task as middle reliever was to keep it close
and that is exactly what he did, pitching 2 shutout innings
and with some help from the offense left with a 10-5 lead
handing off to hard throwing ace Chris Yzaguirre. The Bayside
team would not give up and fought back with 2 runs before
the last out came with the bases loaded. Congrats on a great
win. This team can be proud of what they did all season long.
This was a great bunch of kids most of them not knowing each
other before, but all left as good friends. They came to play
and learn the game and tonight they wore their heart on their
sleeve by not giving up. Our outfield can especially be proud
as after a couple of games everything hit to the outfield
was caught.Left fielder Jesse Faller, right fielders Logan
Miller and Wedith Reyes and Ethan Geffen covering plenty of
ground in centerfield. Special thanks to Anthony Samela our
lead off hitter ,short stop and one of our top pitchers who
helped lead our team to victory all season, but
could not be there due to his graduation from JHS 194.
Special thanks to Coach Rob Yzaguirre for stepping
up to coach and passing on his knowledge and guidance in managing
a baseball team. Also thanks to assistant coaches Steve Wolfen,
Rich Haley and Nick Kaston for helping out before, during
and after the game. As anyone who coaches, it can't be done
alone so your help is appreciated. We all look forward to
next season. |
