This year's talent was very deep in the Junior league and coming
up with only 20 All Stars was no easy task for Commissioners Steve
Gross and Steve Wolfin, so congrats must go out to them for what
is being considered one of the best All Star games in memory.
The large crowd that turned out got to see some great action under
the boards by the big men and the high percentage 3 point shooting
by the smaller guards. Just as in the NBA, the All Star Game is
not about the final score, but the commissioners spent much time
to ensure the teams were well paired off and that was evident
by the final score, with the West defeating the East 100-96. The
West team's MVP went to Ethan Geffen for his strong consistent
play, while the East MVP went to Ryan Wilson who demonstrated
during the whole game, his dominance under the boards. All the
players, though can be proud as all brought their "A"
game and special thanks must go to coaches Xavier Montes, George
Varsam and Paul Skaliarinis for helping make this game a success.
The All Star game started with the annual free throw and 3 point
shooting contest with the finals at half time. No stranger to
DAC shooting titles, Jordan Mittenthal won the Foul Shooting Contest
going 12-12 from the foul line while rising star and youngest
player in the league Mike Rodriguez went 8-10 from the 3 point
line to win the 3 Point contest. |
